Dirges for Hotel City:

The corrupt Dublin City Council (DCC) is led by an evil tyrant; The DCC is intent on demolishing as much positive culture and nice things in Dublin as they can, and desire to pave over what remains with hotels and office blocks, and to funnel all our rent offshore to the death god Balor.

The oppressed ancient Irish god Ogma invents the Ogham as a means to create music, and spread dissent that could overthrow the corrupt Dublin City Council and its tyrannical leader. After spreading words of dissent through the Ogham, the Morrigan (a Celtic Triple death goddess) is awoken from a chamber deep under the DCC offices, and emerges to rain fire and blood down over the corrupt council.

Dirges is a kind of psych-irish folk- garage influenced album, performed primarily as Gaeilge; It is a concept album that explores what its like to live, work, and pay rent in modern Dublin (or any modern city). It explores this concept through the lens of Irish Mythology. In Dirges, Trash Guzzler draws parallels between stories in Irish Mythology and modern events in Dublin, allowing them to extrapolate a possible future for Dublin that might be in store for all of us.

This album is for fans of psych, trad, folk, and anyone paying too much rent. Inspired by the events of 2021 when developers tried to build a 9 story hotel over the Cobblestone pub in Smithfield.

Reversed arrangement of ''As I Roved Out'' collected from Brigid Tunney of Rushen, Donegal in the intro of Badbh, with my dad accompanying on mandolin.

We are in a housing crisis and they are building hotels over where our cultural centres used to be. All profits from Dirges for Hotel City will be donated to CATU, the Community Action Tenants Union, a union for communities and tenants - renters, council tenants, mortgage holders and people in emergency & precarious living situations.
